We did a white elephant exchange. I ended up with a “candle warmer” and a candle. I never knew what it was or that I needed one. Turns out it’s a halogen bulb in a metal shade on a stand where you, I guess, put your candle. It’s probably supposed to be safer than burning a candle but for me it’s just a really poorly designed reading lamp. I will probably modify it with a LED bulb and bend the stand to a new angle to make it actually usable.
In case you’re curious what I gave in the exchange, I went to a local antique mall and in 5 minutes I’d found a really nice Wagner Ware 8” cast iron skillet. For almost exactly the right amount ($49). It was the last gift picked and arguably the best of the night. The guy who got it was super excited because he loves to cook but has never had a good cast iron skillet.
@tweezak
Sounds like you got the short end of the stick. We’re doing a white elephant exchange today, I’m bringing a 6 pack of acrylic bins (for storage) with a couple of Xmas crossword books, box of felt tip pens and sticky notes and for my boyfriend I got a eight pack solar deck light. It’s probably the least exciting gifts I’ve gotten for white elephant in a long time.
My daughter designed a Funko Pop figure that looks just like me. It’s pretty awesome. Never even knew what Funko Pop was until this last summer. A couple “popped” themselves for the wedding cake topper. It’s a cool gift.
Another GREAT gift! What are you into, what kind/genre did you get?
I was going to get our 10 year old grandson some LEGO flowers (a bouquet) so he could build them and give them to his mom. “Thing’s” happened though, his dad decided he’d have to wait so hoping to do it for Valentine’s Day instead.
We got one another flight and a hotel to the rugby exhibition in Vegas at the end of Feb. we weren’t supposed to get any other gifts but the Englishman put this in my stocking. I’m super excited. I’m dedicating more time to drawing for future designs so this is kind of amazeballs! It’s the Lumos double pen.
My mom was super generous and gave us $300 for take out from our favorite restaurant/bakery. The possibilities are endless…
She also gave us some amazing little all natural, handmade soaps with a little wooden soap dish. They smell great and are very pretty too! It doesn’t take much to get me excited! 🫧 ️
My friends up the street made me some amazing Christmas cookies along with a few other small gifts. My next door neighbor gave me locally made chocolates and a large gift card! An old uni friend sent me some expensive tinned fish (I told her they were too costly for me)! I got myself a very large coffee table book of one of my fav artists! My SideDeal mystery box had a few items that were perfect for me as well as a $2,000 leather jacket that will have me trying to lose some weight for!
@Kidsandliz That is my first question as well. I even asked it in the reveal thread without an answer… Also, it is still being sold by the original company and not something “Sold Out” from long ago.
Although I don’t celebrate Christmas, I like building gingerbread houses. I picked up a gingerbread house at Walgreens today after my bike ride.
Also bought a whole bunch of Christmas themed junk food because it was all on sale.
@kittykat9180
Yep, the day after Valentine’s was always my go-to candy shopping day when the kids were little! In fact I think they thought it fell on the 15th!
We weren’t supposed to do gifts… as we bought a new couch as a house purchase… but of course there were a few that snuck in. My big gift was a heated blanket with a pocket for your feet. So cozy on these chilly nights (& days).
Space herpes.
@yakkoTDI Are you an Ice Pirate?
My cat is the only one who has gifted me anything yet. The night is young. Got snuggles for Xmas.
@OnionSoup Yep so did my cat just before I got up!
@mycya4me @OnionSoup yakko? Lol
Not yet; ask me again this afternoon after my family get-together.
@MrGoodGuy Ditto; too early to know.
I know I am getting binoculars w night vision!!!
@tinamarie1974 I’d settle for good night vision, or even just good vision again. But Merry Christmas to you and Charlie.
@phendrick Merry Christmas

A paid workday off. No complaints here.

@AlienCookie My not-so-little nephew got me the summer flowers set. He’s been well trained.
So far I got some gift cards, a candle, soap, ornament storage contanter and money.
@Star2236 I haven’t gotten money since I was a kid, but whenever I did, it was never my size; always too small.

@fjp999 Wait. What? A $2000 coat? Holy crap! the question I have is how did they end up with it.
